The TREEAMS Program

TREEAMS (Trees + Dreams) was born as a student-led movement of healing, hope and action. TREEAMS empowers students to come together across the city to plant trees, restore optimism, and reimagine Los Angeles as a greener, more resilient city for generations to come.

TREEAMS is empowering students to lead the ecological and emotional renewal of their communities. Through environmental education, tree mapping, and large-scale tree planting, the project seeks to transform grief into action by restoring burned landscapes, replanting lost trees, and cultivating resilience. Students will learn from local experts which trees to plant, how to plant them and how to keep the newly planted trees thriving.

TREEAMS is building unity across Los Angeles, providing a roadmap for students to work together to rebuild their communities. We are creating a network of school partnerships that cross geographic boundaries and build unity between public and private schools. All generations, from young siblings to grandparents, will be encouraged to attend tree planting events. The planting of each tree will be a symbolic act of healing and unity.

To carry out the work, student leaders will be equipped with tools to drive environmental change, including teaching workshops designed by UCLA School of Education and EcoRise on the importance of trees in urban landscapes, as well as learning Jane Goodall’s Tree Planting and Restoration System to monitor tree growth and  sustainability overtime.

Ultimately, the project’s objective is to create a greener Los Angeles where students and their communities not only heal from loss, but also shape a sustainable, hopeful future for generations to come.

The Seven Arrows Way of Education β€” a family of schools.

Created by Margarita Pagliai, 35 years ago one enrichment program became a Global Festivals program, which then grew into a pre-school, then, became a Junior Kindergarten, and then finally an Elementary School.

A commitment to global, multi-cultural education, rigorous academics and the arts, The SA Way has continued to expand its pedagogy beyond just the bounds of its campuses. A three decades-long collaboration, turned partnership with Dr. Jane Goodall gave birth to TREEAMS, the most recent iteration of the SA Way’s commitment to expansive learning for young minds and the community-at-large.
